The standard we follow
Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act does not publish an official technical standard for websites. In practice, courts and the U.S. Department of Justice use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as the reference. We have adopted WCAG 2.1 Level AA as our target — the same standard the Department of Justice made binding in 2024 for state and local government websites.
“Partially conformant” means most of this site meets that standard, and the items that do not are listed openly below with a date for resolution. We prefer that to a claim we cannot support.
What we have done
- Keyboard access throughout. Every menu, dropdown, accordion and form control can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, and the focus indicator is always visible.
- A skip link at the top of every page, so keyboard and screen-reader users can bypass the navigation.
- Text alternatives on every meaningful image. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology rather than described.
- A single, ordered heading hierarchy per page, so a screen reader can be used to navigate by structure.
- Colour contrast tested against the AA thresholds — 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text — including text over photographs.
- Labelled form fields with visible labels, required-field indication in text rather than colour alone, and error messages tied to their input.
- Descriptive link text. No link reads “click here” or “read more” without context.
- Correct language declaration. Each page declares its own language, and Portuguese dish names inside English text are marked individually so a screen reader pronounces them correctly (WCAG 3.1.1 and 3.1.2).
- Menu in HTML. Our full menu is readable web text rather than a PDF, so it works with screen readers, text resizing and reflow. A PDF remains available as a convenience, not as the only source.
- Reduced-motion support. Animations are disabled automatically for visitors whose system requests reduced motion.
- Touch targets. Buttons, the brand link, the menu button, the language control and icon links measure at least 44 by 44 pixels; form fields are 48 pixels tall. Footer and legal link lists are smaller, and meet WCAG 2.5.8 Level AA through its spacing provision instead — they sit on a 34-pixel vertical pitch, above the 24-pixel threshold. Links inside a paragraph of running text use the inline exception in the same criterion, where the requirement does not apply.
How we tested
| Method | Detail |
|---|---|
| Automated scanning | axe-core 4.10 and Lighthouse 12, across every page template, at a fixed 1440×900 viewport |
| Keyboard-only testing | Tab order, visible focus and the skip link, verified with real key presses |
| Magnification | Reflow at 640px and 320px — the viewport equivalents of 200% and 400% zoom on a 1280px window |
| Contrast | Measured pair by pair wherever the tool returned inconclusive, including text over photographs |
Automated tools reliably detect only a portion of accessibility issues. Every finding below came from manual testing, which is why we do not rely on scanning alone.
Known limitations
We are aware of the following, and we are working on them:
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| No screen reader testing | This site has not been tested with NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver. Automated tools and the accessibility tree cover how elements are exposed, not how they sound. Until that test happens, we do not claim it. |
| Embedded Google Maps | The third-party map component does not fully meet AA. A text address and a directions link are provided as an accessible alternative. |
| Third-party ordering (DoorDash) | Ordering happens on DoorDash's own website, which we do not control. Orders can also be placed by phone at +1 (407) 363-7730. |
| Older photographs | A small number of archive images have shorter alternative text than we would like. Being rewritten. |
| Menu PDF | The downloadable PDF is not fully tagged for screen readers. The complete menu is available as accessible HTML at our menu page, which is the primary version. |
Accessibility at the restaurant
This statement covers our website. For the restaurant itself — step-free access, accessible restrooms, table heights, service animals or seating on the patio — please call us at +1 (407) 363-7730 before your visit and we will tell you exactly what to expect and reserve accordingly.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of this website stops you from doing what you came to do, we want to hear about it — and we will help you get what you needed in the meantime.

Form: Contact form — choose “Accessibility barrier”
Please tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. We acknowledge within 2 business days and aim to resolve within 10 business days. If something will take longer, we will say so and give you a date.
Ongoing commitment
Accessibility is not a one-time fix. Every photograph and paragraph published after this date can introduce a new barrier, so our team follows a documented checklist when publishing, and this site is re-audited when templates change or new sections are added.
This statement will be updated whenever the scope, the findings or the resolution dates change.
